Statement Profiling
Statement profiling uses a subject’s written or verbal statement to develop a reasoned profile of an unknown or partially known communicator.
Through disciplined linguistic and psychological analysis, this service assesses likely characteristics, motivations, constraints, and cognitive frameworks of the statement’s author based solely on the language used and what is notably absent.
Statement profiling is particularly valuable when the author or speaker is unidentified, disputed, or presenting under false pretenses, and when conclusions must be drawn from language rather than direct observation.
Examples of materials analyzed include ransom notes, written threats, and other suspicious writings or statements. Such analyses may be used to narrow a potential suspect pool, link related crimes, and/or identify additional, often highly relevant information about the author that is embedded—yet not overtly stated—in the language used.
